The developers selected this specific model due to its interior volume and cost-effectiveness. A key advantage of this system is its non-invasive installation; the unit is secured using existing factory bolt inserts, meaning no drilling or permanent structural changes are required. According to the company, the installation process takes approximately one hour at their Denver, Colorado facility, and the unit can be removed just as easily, restoring the vehicle to its original cargo configuration.


Strategic Flexibility and Future Upgrades

This modular approach allows owners to purchase an older, more affordable ProMaster and upgrade to a newer van later by simply moving the Pod. With used high-mileage vans often available for under $20,000, this path offers a budget-friendly entry point compared to purchasing a new base model, which can exceed $50,000. While currently limited to the ProMaster, the design team—working with partners at Innovation4Van—has confirmed that versions for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit are currently under development.


Proven Reliability and Equipment

The Hunker team utilized years of experience from their rental brand, Native Campervans, to refine the design. Their rental fleet, known as “Biggie” vans, provides a real-world testing ground for the technology. User reception has been highly favorable, with travelers praising the setup. One renter noted that it is «perfect for two people,» while others highlighted the impressive quality of the onboard amenities.
