Genesis Enters the High-Performance EV Arena
Genesis has officially launched its inaugural performance vehicle, the 2027 GV60 Magma. Priced at $71,495 including delivery, this all-electric crossover represents the luxury brand’s direct challenge to high-performance staples from manufacturers like BMW M and Mercedes-AMG.
Power and Performance Specs
At the heart of the GV60 Magma is a dual-motor configuration designed for enthusiasts. While it maintains 600 horsepower for standard driving, engaging Boost Mode elevates the output to 641 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the vehicle to sprint from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds.
To enhance driver engagement, the vehicle features:
- Virtual Gear Shifts: Simulates the physical sensation of changing gears to provide a more tactile driving experience.
- Electronic Limited-Slip Differential: Optimizes handling during aggressive maneuvers.
- Drift Mode: Allows for controlled oversteer on demand.
Immersive Driving Experience
The GV60 Magma distinguishes itself with the e-ASD+ system, which delivers synthetic powertrain audio through external speakers. Uniquely, the vehicle includes sound profiles inspired by the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed. As Genesis positions itself as a luxury tier above its corporate cousins like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, owners can expect a more premium cabin environment and elevated dealership services.
Design and Charging Capabilities
The aesthetic of the Magma edition is clearly performance-oriented, featuring aerodynamic enhancements such as front bumper canards, specialized fender breathers, and a prominent rear winglet. Inside, the cockpit is equipped with dedicated performance bucket seats and a steering wheel featuring bespoke buttons for the Magma and Boost modes.
The vehicle is supported by an 84-kWh battery pack. Built on an 800-volt architecture, the GV60 Magma is capable of a 10% to 80% charge in approximately 20 minutes.
Market Availability
Genesis has confirmed that the first units of the 2027 GV60 Magma are scheduled to reach select retailers in California, New Jersey, and New York within the next few weeks.
