Expanding Sustainable Vehicle Disposal
Indian automotive manufacturer Force Motors has officially teamed up with Rosmerta Auto Recycling. This partnership aims to provide vehicle owners with a streamlined and authorized pathway for scrapping end-of-life vehicles.
The initiative will launch in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). Following the initial rollout, the companies plan to evaluate expansion opportunities to other Indian regions to broaden the availability of professional recycling services.
The Scrapping Process and Compliance
Through this agreement, customers can access Rosmerta's registered vehicle scrapping facilities (RVSF). The process ensures that vehicles undergo rigorous documentation, depollution, and dismantling procedures. Additionally, the facilities are equipped to recover recyclable materials from the vehicles and will provide official scrappage documentation, such as the Certificate of Deposit where required.
This collaboration aligns with an existing memorandum of understanding between Force Motors and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), aimed at supporting the Commercial Vehicle Replacement Scheme.
Commitment to Sustainability
Regarding the company’s environmental goals, a representative for Force Motors noted:
«By encouraging responsible disposal and the recovery of recyclable materials from end-of-life vehicles, the Company aims to extend its sustainability approach beyond its manufacturing operations and support more responsible practices across the vehicle lifecycle.»
Rosmerta Recycling operates a high-capacity plant in Manesar, Haryana, which specializes in handling end-of-life vehicles (ELV), as well as units categorized as total loss or damaged by accidents. The site maintains a capacity to process over 6,000 vehicles monthly.
A Broader Vision for Lifecycle Management
Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors, emphasized that the company’s responsibility does not conclude at the point of sale. He stated:
«As a responsible vehicle manufacturer, we believe our role extends beyond building and delivering vehicles. How a vehicle is managed at the end of its useful life matters too. Through this initiative, we want to encourage responsible scrappage and the recovery of valuable materials, while making it easier for our customers to choose authorised disposal channels.»
Founded in 1958, Force Motors is a prominent manufacturer of vehicles and automotive components, currently operating five production plants across India with a workforce exceeding 10,000 employees.
