Due to high demand, the company is currently tripling its production capacity.
According to Doug Wilson of Ursa Ag, the industry’s obsession with high-tech features has overlooked the core needs of the farmer. As he noted in an interview, «But that technology is needed for 5 percent of what a farm does. There are so many applications for tractors on farms that don't require technology.»
The Right to Repair Conflict
A primary driver behind the popularity of these basic tractors is the ease of maintenance. In contrast to modern, sensor-heavy equipment where a malfunctioning internet-connected component can render a machine useless, older or simpler designs allow farmers to handle repairs independently.
This issue has sparked significant controversy, particularly regarding major manufacturers like John Deere. The «right to repair» movement gained momentum following litigation that resulted in a $99 million settlement for farmers. Critics argue that some manufacturers intentionally restrict access to necessary diagnostic software, forcing owners to rely exclusively on company-authorized service centers for repairs. By offering machinery that bypasses these software-locked ecosystems, companies like Ursa Ag are providing a solution for farmers who demand control over the equipment they own.
