A New Chapter for Subaru

Subaru is set to broaden its electrification strategy with the launch of the Uncharted, an all-electric crossover that embodies the brand's long-standing adventurous heritage. As the company's second EV following the Solterra, the Uncharted brings a fresh, rugged aesthetic to the competitive sub-compact segment.

While the vehicle is unmistakably Subaru in spirit, it is built upon the same platform as the Toyota C-HR+. This collaboration allows the automaker to offer a more accessible entry point into the electric market, with prices starting significantly lower than its larger sibling, the Solterra.


Interior Space and Practicality

Despite its compact footprint—being 14 centimeters shorter than the Solterra—the Uncharted remains surprisingly spacious. Thanks to a well-optimized chassis, occupants can enjoy a comfortable cabin experience. Practicality is a key focus, with a boot capacity ranging from 403 to 1,323 liters. However, potential owners should note that, unlike many EV competitors, the Uncharted lacks a "frunk" or front storage space under the hood.


Driving Dynamics and Performance

The vehicle's standout feature is its chassis tuning. By utilizing Toyota's rigid battery platform, Subaru has created an EV that feels remarkably agile and composed. The suspension setup strikes a balance between comfort and stability, while the aerodynamic design ensures a quiet cabin environment, even at higher speeds.

The powertrain lineup is diverse:

  • Entry-level: A 167 hp front-wheel-drive configuration.
  • Mid-range: A more potent 224 hp front-wheel-drive version.
  • Performance: The flagship dual-motor all-wheel-drive model, delivering 343 hp and a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.2 seconds.

Charging Capabilities

The Uncharted offers two battery options: a 57.7 kWh pack providing up to 451 km of range, and a larger 77 kWh pack extending that to 592 km. Regarding charging, the vehicle supports 22 kW AC charging, while DC fast charging is capped at 150 kW. While these figures may lag behind some rivals, Subaru emphasizes its optimized charging curve.

«The automaker claims a 10% to 80% charge can be achieved in 28 minutes, supported by a pre-conditioning system that maintains efficiency even in freezing temperatures,» the manufacturer states.

The Subaru Uncharted enters the market as a well-rounded contender. While it may not revolutionize the EV sector, its combination of sharp handling, off-road-ready driving modes, and attractive pricing makes it a compelling choice for those transitioning to electric vehicles who still desire the versatility of a traditional crossover.
